A great day in do son

  1. Let me elaborate- it won't let me post it.

The tropical storm came through yesterday far south of us. Here we had a tide surge of about 20 feet. The water came up over the flood wall behind our hotel. It wasn't a big deal. Just rainy and windy. It was actually a lot of fun. You will see our pictures. Most of us preferred that to actually going to the beach!

We improvised well. Played lots of games with the kids. Made lots of crafts. Marci, marissa, helen and terri headed up the crafts. All kids all ages had a blast!

Last night we did a carnival for the kids. Jess made ballon animals for the kids and they played games then we had a bonfire. It was massive. It was funny for us with our own cultural bias to observe as the locals clearly have differing views on fire safety and environmental concerns. ( they burned styrofoam-ha!)

Emily is sounding better each day. She can't sing or talk too much but honestly her attitude has been great!
They fed us eggs and French rolls and yummy coffee for breakfast which was some much appreciated western food.
I had some really great chats yesterday with one of our translators. We talked about significant life stuff. Very cool!
Also last night we spent some good time with our GVI friends. We all left that meeting a little choked up actually.

So much to say but my thumbs on this iPhone needs a break. Weather has cleared so we will probably head back to the beach today!

Thank you all for your thoughts and your love.

  2. So thankful to hear the storm mostly missed you, and that Emily is better. Tell her "Mom says to eat garlic." :) Blessings to all!

  3. Thank the Lord you were safe from that storm. Glad you are able to connect so well with these children and make memories.
Tell Gwenyth, her sister is learning to play that guitar and will have a song for her when she returns home. Love, Mom
